Dumbo Heat Engine

This project was the result of a semester long project based course I took in the spring of my junior year. The class is a hands-on, project-based course that provides knowledge and skills necessary to design, analyze, manufacture, and test fully-functional mechanical systems.
In this class I was exposed to machine elements, analysis of the mechanics of machining, manufacturing technology, precision fabrication (milling, turning, and computer-controlled machining), metrology, tolerances, cutting-tool fundamentals, and engineering materials.
It took a full semester to design, model, and fabricate the heat engine. Machines used include proto TRAK CNC, Lathe, and bandsaw. The final product is an engine powered by a blow torch to convert heat to mechanical energy.
