Mechanical Engineering Intern focused on New Product Development

June 2021 - August 2021

In this role I worked on the development and production of various ride-on children’s toys through ideation, 3D modeling, prototyping, and product testing. In this role I was exposed to several important considerations that go into the manufacturing, design, and engineering processes of physical, consumer products. Projects that I worked on during the 12-week internship focused on and improved my skillset in the following areas:

  • 3D modeling and surfacing using Solidworks

  • Rapid prototyping through 3D printing, CNC milling, Welding, and Vacforming

  • Design for manufacturing with emphasis on injection, roto, and blow molding

  • Ideation, brainstorming, and market research for product development and problem solving

  • Effective material usage for sustainability and cost considerations

  • Effective communication with overseas teams and manufacturing factories

One of my primary projects included working on the recently released Triple Play Trike . I had the pleasure of working on the preliminary mechanisms for the rotating wheels and removable pedals.

Due to the confidential nature of this work, employers are encouraged to contact me directly to learn specifics about the projects completed during the duration of my internship.
